NBA outcome attainment: direct evidence for communication and professional outcomes
NBA accreditation is outcome-based: institutions show how well students attain defined course and programme outcomes. Teachrity lets programmes map scored spoken tasks to outcomes such as communication, ethics and teamwork, and export attainment data. It supports evidence preparation and does not confer accreditation.
The direct-assessment gap
Written tests measure knowledge well. Outcomes such as communication, professional ethics and lifelong learning are harder to evidence directly, and are often filled with survey data.
Mapping tasks to outcomes
A simulation is tagged to a course outcome and a rubric criterion. Each scored attempt then counts as direct evidence for that outcome.
Attainment and closing the loop
Cohort scores by criterion show where attainment is low, and a re-run of the same task after a teaching change shows whether it improved.
Where it applies
Programmes that carry NBA-style outcomes, such as management, hospitality and engineering management, can use it for the communication and professional-practice outcomes.
Setting thresholds
Programmes usually set an attainment threshold, such as a share of students reaching a score level on an outcome. Cohort scores by criterion can be compared against that threshold and re-run after a teaching change.
